I will be forever grateful to Dr. Gale for rescuing me from the dreadful woes of chronic clinical depression. I've been battling depression for the better part of 20 years. The last bout of it was particularly intense. After six days of psychiatric inpatient treatment, after nine days of outpatient psychiatric therapy, after 41 days of prescribed pharmacological drugs (a collection of drugs actually), after seeing three psychiatrists and four mental health clinicians, I was still "walking depression" (i.e.zombie) on good days and positively suicidal on bad ones. On those bad days, I wasn't just plagued with suicidal ideation, I was intentionally working on a plan.

Dr. Gale was the only one who acknowledged I wasn’t getting better with the drugs I was taking. He understood the severity of my case and swiftly changed all my medications to newer ones in higher doses. Furthermore, he asked to see me every three to four days to ensure I was positively responding to the new set of medications (PS: I must stress how vital and rare this close-monitoring approach is. Most of psychiatrist I've encountered are happy to see you every other week or more commonly monthly even after drastic medication changes have been implemented. I only came across daily or every other day visits with psychiatrist during my inpatient hospitalization or my intensive/day program).

Under his close-monitoring, he saw subtle improvements in my demeanor and rhetoric even before I recognized them. He reassured me of my own progress and kept me on track with the new meds long enough for them to reach their therapeutic dose. And, just like magic, after two weeks and four days, the weight of depression lifted and I was back to my normal, sane, cheerful self.
